The selection process for NCL Apprentice Recruitment 2026 is based on merit, document verification, medical fitness, and apprenticeship contract approval. Below is the detailed explanation: 

1. Merit‑Based Shortlisting 

• Graduate & Diploma Apprentices: 

• Merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying Graduation/Diploma examination. 

• Candidates will be arranged in descending order of marks. 

• ITI Trade Apprentices: 

• Merit list will be prepared on the basis of the average percentage of marks in Matriculation (10th) and the respective NTC/STC trade certificate. 

• Candidates will be arranged in descending order of average marks. 

• Note: “Candidates will be shortlisted based on merit drawn from marks scored in qualifying examination (Graduation/Diploma) or average of Matriculation and NTC/STC passing percentage (for ITI Trades).” 

2. Tie‑Breaking Rules 

• If two candidates secure the same merit score: 

• Preference will be given to the candidate born earlier (older by Date of Birth). 

• If still unresolved, preference will be given to the candidate whose name appears first alphabetically in English (Roman script). 

3. Document Scrutiny 

• Shortlisted candidates will be called for verification of original documents. 

• The date and venue for document scrutiny will be announced on:

• A fitness certificate must be issued by a medical officer of a government hospital (rank not less than Assistant Civil Surgeon). 

• Without medical clearance, candidates will not be offered apprenticeship training. 

5. Apprenticeship Contract 

• The apprenticeship contract will be generated through the NATS/NAPS portal. 

• Candidates must accept the contract online. 

• The contract will be operative between the Apprenticeship Trainee and the General Manager (HRD)/Head of Department (HRD), NCL. 

• Final approval will be given by BOAT‑Western Region / RDSDE Bhopal officials.
